Hi, my name is Gaewyn and I make goat milk body products.

Tawariki Goats Milk Soaps is an artisan goat milk body soaps establishment I began in 2018, and has quickly expanded to include a range of body care products.

It all started when my husband bought me two milking goats - because I liked goats, and I liked making cheese. I have made cheese on & off for a few years as a wee hobby and thought I would like to make Goats cheese - which I still do for ourselves & friends & family. However, we purchased a few more milking goats and suddenly I had way too much milk to know what to do with! 

Someone suggested goats milk soap, so I got googling and sampling goats milk soaps. My daughter-in-law then highlighted to me that goats milk soaps are very good for eczema, which my granddaughter has, so I started making soap.

As my granddaughters skin cleared up, and other people that I gave my soaps to were raving about how much better their skin was feeling after using my soaps, I decided to try making more.

I never imagined that I would enjoy soap making as much as I do, but it is now somewhat of a wee passion for me, especially as the benefits of goats milk soaps are so great.

I do not water my goats milk down, and the result it is a beautiful, moisturizing soap. I have also decided to keep my recipes reasonably simple, because I found that once you start adding too many ingredients, you needed to add other ingredients that I didn’t want to harden the soap. 

From here I decided that I wanted to make “pretty” soaps, as I found that most goats milk soaps are not the prettiest. This was a bit of a challenge, but I persevered, and now feel I have a range of beautiful goats milk soaps that I am very proud of. 

As more and more family and friends used my soaps, the feedback increased which was all so great to hear! So about mid 2019, I decided that maybe I could start making soaps to sell.

My soaps are all handcrafted by me in our rural valley in Awakino. We have resided here for decades - my husband 56 years, growing up and working on the family farm next door. I have lived up here with him for 28 years.

We moved to this particular farm 7 years ago. We LOVE our place and know we are very lucky to be living in this part of paradise!

Our farm is a sheep, beef and dairy grazing farm, but then we of course have my wee herd of milking goats…. including Millie, Isla, Lola, Twinkle, Tinkerbell, Jenny, Ruby & Nola - plus the usual array of ducks, chickens & pigs.
